The Slightly True Story of Cedar B. Hartley
by Martine Murray
You don't have to be a grown-up to know a lot about life. Cedar is virtually an expert and she's only 12.

Excerpt:
I never would've thought that I'd miss Barnaby, because we used to have some big fights. Once, he punched me in my mouth because I kicked his sand castle, and I got a chipped front tooth. But that was when we were just kids, and now that he's seventeen he never punches me.

I thought this book was different from all of the other books I've read because I could really picture what her life was like, what she looked like, what her house looked like, and what her friends were like. This was a really awesome book and I hope Martine Murray writes another novel.
Jennifer E. Age 11

I think this was a truly brilliant book. You can just feel everything that Cedar is saying. You can imagine her life and be a part of it. I recommend this book to everyone and think Cedar is a truly independent and unique character.
Dakota H. Age 14

I LOVED the book. It was so interesting, unique, and rare. I think that it's rare because I read this book in one day and usually I don't. So in my opinion, I loved it.
Tracy K. Age 13

This book was incredible, one of my favorites. There were so many things going on at once, and there wasn't a dull moment. I nearly cried when I reached the end!
Shauna W. Age 12

I thought this book was very interesting. Cedar is a very independent person and has her own views and wont think twice about sharing them w/ you. It's a great book that I wouldn't mind reading again.
Lauren H. Age 15

I think it is a ok book, it's not my favorite book.
Camille G. Age 10

This book was a good as book, you learnt so much about friendship and how tough people had it back in those days. It also shows just how strong individuals can be no matter what it is that they are put through.
Katie G. Age 17

This is a book that you would rather read alone with no interruptions so that you understand everything that has been going on and what is happening.
Diandra Age 14

I think it was a pretty good book. I like the parts where they learn acrobatics, especially because I'm a gymnast.
